A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away… Economic and business decisions still influenced the course of galactic empires and rebels alike. This website was born out of the questions “How?” and "Why?”. I enjoy great movies as much as the next person but I am infatuated with the little details sprinkled in these works of art. These details may not impact the events of a film or novel but they greatly enrich the reality the story inhabits. On this website I hope we can explore the fictional economic realities in films such as Aliens and novels such as the A Song of Ice and Fire series (commonly known as A Game of Thrones). But I don’t want to limit my scope to just the non-existent and ultimately the somewhat meaningless. There are interesting stories in our own world to look at such as the tobacco industry’s expansion into the third world in face of declining smoker rates in the United States. These are just a few of the topics I will explore.

In addition to larger projects such as analyzing real world and fictional business endeavors, I will also include some book and movie reviews. Many of these will be business, economic, or finance related but there will be some fiction as well. There is a strange belief some people adhere to which states that fiction is a waste of time. However, I am of the opinion that fiction can not only mirror our world but allows us to escape the confines of our reality in an attempt to understand it through reflection.

That is the short explanation for why I am trying to develop a fun and engaging website. Tomorrow I will be introducing the first in a three part series which will determine the Net Present Value of a Jurassic World project. I will attempt to update this site with content at an absolute minimum of once every two weeks. In the meantime stay tuned and don’t forget to drop by!
